  1. Kaziranga National Park

    Kaziranga national park is a World Heritage Site in the Golaghat district of Assam, India. It is home to the world’s largest population of Great Indian one-horned rhinoceros. The park hosts two-thirds of this endangered rhino’s global population, which was estimated at 2,400 animals in 2006. Kaziranga is home to many other threatened species including Indian elephant, wild water buffalo, swamp deer, gaur (indian bison) and pygmy hog. The park gets its name from the Kaziranga River, which is the only perennial river flowing through a large forested area in Assam.

  2. Manas National Park

    Manas National Park is located in the Upper Subansiri district of Arunachal Pradesh and is spread over an area of 447.02 square kilometres. It is a World Heritage Site covering a part of the Manas-Sangbans complex, one of the largest continuous sandstone outcrops in Asia. The park is known for its rich biodiversity, being home to many endangered and threatened species like snow leopard, gaur, wild water buffalo and wild dog.

  3. Kamakhya Temple

    The temple is one of the oldest in Assam and has a great historic and religious importance. The temple is located on Nilachal Hill, near Brahmaputra river. This temple is also referred to as “Shiva Temple”. This temple was built by the king of Guahang (North Bengal) during the 18th century. This place attracts devotees from around world especially during its annual fairs, held in February/March and August/September every year.

    The Hoollongapar Gibbon Wildlife Sanctuary is located in the North Cachar Hills, about 160 kilometers from Guwahati. This sanctuary was set up in 1948 and covers an area of 280 square kilometres. The sanctuary has a rich collection of rare plants and a good population of wildlife. The main attraction of this sanctuary is the wild gibbons.
